PNG LNG Project RAM Analysis
BUSINESS CHALLENGE
- To determine the availability, system criticality and element criticality of the PNG LNG project gas supply to the LNG Plant.
- To determine the affect on availability of varying configurations and rates and quantities of linepack.
SOLUTION
ExxonMobil is at the Pre-FEED, concept selection stage of the PNG LNG Project. The scope of this study only included the equipment critical to gas supply upstream of the LNG plant.
The first stage of the project involved reviewing the previous support work conducted and updatingassumptions and models to match the latest project definition.
When the assumptions including model configuration (RBDs) were agreed upon the models were run and the results were reviewed.
The results highlighted critical areas of the system. It also highlighted the Planned Maintenance scheme and its affect on annual availability. Several of the sensitivities conducted looked at increasing the redundancy within the system to minimize the observed losses.
Another key item studied was the effect of linepack on system availability.
BENEFITS
This study allowed ExxonMobil to determine the net benefit of the configuration of their equipment along with helping them optimize their pipeline for the best linepack benefit.
